Why Cedar?
We sustainably harvest cedar from the Sierra Nevada foothills, creating art that is both beautiful and distinctive. Cedar wood is naturally resistant to pests and weather, ensuring that Cedar Dragon art can endure for years outdoors or last a lifetime inside your home. We strive to highlight the natural beauty of each piece of cedar, encouraging a harmonious interplay between the images we create and the grain of the wood.
Our Process
We are currently experiencing an incredible convergence of creativity and technology, where we can rapidly produce whimsical and memorable art through precise laser engraving. Cedar's aesthetic appeal makes it a perfect choice for displaying indoors and outdoors as an accent in your garden or yard.
To create our art, we cut cedar trees and branches to prevent them from being discarded as waste. The wood is rough-cut, dried, shaped into oval wedges, planed, sanded, laser-etched, colorized with paint, stains, or pigmentation, and then sealed to protect it from the elements. As we prepare each piece, we pay attention to what the wood wants to become, matching it with the artwork we create.

My name is Coryon Redd, and I’m the founder of Cedar Dragon. I’ve had a burr in my saddle for creating art since I was a kid. Although I have always possessed a restless and creative mind, my journey has taken me through business and science, leading me far away from the arts.
My father, a respected art professor and prolific artist, once told me, “Son, don’t be an artist. I got lucky, but you need skills to make your way in this world.”
